MySQL Certification for versions 4.x
The information below is for the MySQL Core Certification and MySQL Professional Certification, both of which target MySQL versions 4.0 and 4.1.

MySQL Certifications make up a high quality certification program that provides developers and DBAs with the credentials to prove they have the knowledge, experience and skills to use and manage MySQL Server. For the 4.x series of MySQL, MySQL AB offers two tiers of certification:
MySQL Core and Professional Certification provides developers and DBAs with the following benefits:
- Better recognition of your skills. As a MySQL certified user you can expect many benefits because your skills have been confirmed by a neutral testing body.
- Get a better position. Certification gives you the "edge" when being considered for a promotion or other career opportunities. Receiving your certification shows you have the knowledge and skills to accept more responsibility.
- Establishes professional credentials. Certification stands out on your resume, serving as an impartial, third-party endorsement to your knowledge and experience.
The MySQL Core Certification certifies that the holder has mastered the fundamental skills of using MySQL including creating and using databases and tables, inserting, modifying, deleting, and retrieving data
Those holding the MySQL Professional Certification - have mastered the ability to manage one or more MySQL Server installations, including such advanced areas of database management, installation, security, disaster prevention and optimization.
In order to obtain Core and Professional certification, you must pass one exam per certification level, and you must attain Core certification before taking the Professional certification exam. MySQL exams are offered through 3,000 Pearson VUE testing centers world-wide. Find a testing center and register with Pearson VUE for an exam now.
Training and Studying for Certification
The MySQL Certification program is tightly linked with the MySQL ABs training program. As shown in the picture, MySQL ABs training offerings will provide you with intensive training for both your real-world and certification needs. It is strongly recommended that you take one or more training courses before attempting MySQL certification.
