• New Tech Support Features Added
  MySQL AB has released a new FAQ on Tech Support, v. 3.0, effective February 15th, 2003.

• Key features in MySQL 4.1
  MySQL 4.1 introduces many long-awaited features, such as subqueries, Unicode (UTF-8) support, support for character sets and collations, as well as GIS data types for manipulation of geometrical data.
   
• German-language Tech Support Available
  Starting from January, 2003, official tech support from MySQL AB is also available to German-speaking customers. This is offered at no extra cost - all support customers are free to choose the language of their choice. German language support is available both by e-mail and phone. Prices and service levels are the same as for our predominate English-language support.
   
• MySQL 4-0.11 (Gamma) is released
  MySQL 4.0.11, a new version of the world's most popular Open Source Database, has been released. It is now available in source and binary form for a number of platforms from our download pages at http://www.mysql.com/downloads/ and mirror sites.
   
• MySQL Connector/J 3.0.6 has been released
  MySQL Connector/J 3.0.6 a new version of the Type-IV all-Java JDBC driver for MySQL has been released.
  
  It is now available in source and binary form from the Connector/J download pages at http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-jdbc-stable.html
  and mirror sites.
   
• MySQL Connector/J 3.1.0 ALPHA has been released
  MySQL Connector/J 3.1.0 a new version of the Type-IV all-Java JDBC driver for MySQL has been released.
  
  It is now available in source and binary form from the Connector/J download pages at
  http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-jdbc-dev.html
  and mirror sites.
  
  This is an ALPHA release for the feature set that is in line with the features MySQL-4.1 is offering, including Unicode character sets and server-side prepared statements.
   
• Connector/ODBC 3.51.06 is released
  As you might have already noticed from our web site, the MyODBC 3.51.06 is released. It is now available in source and binary form for a number of platforms from our download pages at http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-myodbc-3.51.html
  and mirror sites.

• Fast Synchronous Replication for MySQL -- Emic Application Cluster
  Today MySQL offers asynchronous master/slave replication. However, some applications require strict consistency between replicas and because the asynchronous method may lead into inconsistent situations, other solutions are needed. One solution is EAC for MySQL which provides a fast, reliable synchronous replication.
   
• TIP: How to do a hot backup of MyISAM table?
  Although MySQL doesn't provide hot backup for MyISAM storage engine (table handler), you can easily do hot backup with the MySQL tools for MySQL tables.

• MySQL Partners to Exhibit at MySQL CeBIT booth
  MySQL's presence at CeBIT trade show, March 12-19 in Hannover, Germany will be increased with MySQL-related solutions from partners Emic Networks, BakBone Software and Maguma at the MySQL booth. MySQL will be exhibiting in the Finnish Pavilion in Hall 3, A45 at the show.
