MySQL Momentum Continues with Mounting Third-Party Support from Leading Software, Hardware Vendors

Over 100 Companies Now Shipping MySQL; Growing ISV Support Accelerates MySQL Adoption in Mainstream Business

MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced that the ecosystem of commercial MySQL-based applications is broadening as an increasing number of hardware and software vendors leverage the MySQL® database in their technology solutions. The MySQL database is now shipping as the underlying or default database in a diverse range of technologies from over 100 companies, including RightNow Technologies, American Suzuki Motor Corporation, Net IQ, NetBotz, S2 Security Corporation, Gluecode Software and Alpha Software.

In addition, MySQL-ready software applications are proliferating, with new MySQL database support from leading independent software vendors (ISVs) including BMC Software, Inc., Compuware, Embarcadero Technologies, Persistence Software, Quest Software and SAS.

MySQL Shipping as Database Backbone in Leading Software and Hardware

Among the many companies that are now leveraging MySQL as a key differentiator by integrating or bundling it with their hardware or software offerings, are:

RightNow® Technologies, a leading provider of on demand CRM solutions focused on customer service, has integrated MySQL as the underlying database in their CRM Suite of software applications.

American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC), one of Japan's "Big Four" motorcycle makers, teamed with Matrix Consultants to develop the Suzuki Sales Professional Retail Outlet (P.R.O.) kiosk, an award-winning sales tool for ASMC dealers nationwide. MySQL is at the core of this solution, driving the database requirements for the Suzuki Sales P.R.O. at over 600 dealerships nationwide.

“MySQL was the only database that combined ease of use and reliability with an affordable licensing model, so we could deliver the Suzuki Sales P.R.O on budget,” said Margo Zenk from Matrix Consultants.

NetIQ, a world leader in systems management, security management and Web analytics, will be shipping MySQL as part of NetIQ's WebTrends 7 and Security Reporting Center service.

NetBotz, a pioneer in the development of IP-based physical security appliances, now ships MySQL as part of its central management system, NetBotz Central 2.0. NetBotz appliance users can now store NetBotz Central data on an external MySQL database.

S2 Security Corporation, an innovator in the development of network-based integrated physical security systems, is integrating the MySQL database on a motherboard as part of the S2 NetBox, running on the real-time operating system Linux. MySQL is used to store all NetBox data, including reporting data, user information and customizations.

Gluecode Software, an open source application infrastructure company, is bundling the MySQL database with Gluecode Portal Server and Gluecode Business Process Management Server.

Alpha Software is bundling the MySQL database with its easy-to-use Alpha Five database front end for rapid application development. The integrated package lets MySQL users create robust Web database applications on the desktop and then publish them as sophisticated Web-enabled databases that work on top of the MySQL database engine.

Several vendors of popular business applications have recently announced support for the MySQL database, a sign of MySQL's expanding influence in enterprise computing.

BMC Software, a leading provider of enterprise management solutions, now offers a MySQL Knowledge Module (KM) for BMC Software PATROL®, which allows users to monitor all distributed MySQL instances. Developed by Seamless Technologies, the MySQL KM is robust and offers enterprise-level performance, availability and capacity-related metrics.

Compuware, a world leader in delivering software and services that enable businesses to manage their enterprises and maximize the value of their IT assets, will support the MySQL database in Uniface 8.4, the latest version of its proven, unified development environment for designing, building and deploying enterprise business applications. MySQL support for Uniface 8.4 planned for release in the last quarter of 2004.

Embarcadero Technologies®, a leading provider of data lifecycle management solutions, is also extending its support for the open source MySQL database. Two of Embarcadero's key products, ER/Studio® and DT/Studio®, already support the MySQL platform. By Q4 2004, Embarcadero will add MySQL support to several other products, including the industry's most widely adopted cross-platform database administration tool, DBArtisan®, as well as Embarcadero Extreme Test™, Job Scheduler™, and Rapid SQL®.

Persistence Software, the world's technology leader for data access and caching infrastructure, supports the MySQL database in the Persistence EdgeXtend Data Services products to accelerate access to data stored in MySQL databases for mission-critical, custom applications written in Java, C++ or C#.

Quest Software, Inc., a leader in database development, unveiled its support for MySQL in April 2004 with a preview release of Toad for MySQL.
